Directions EMEA 2026 is landing in few days in Paris at Palais des Congrès de Paris.
As usual, it will be a pleasure meeting lots of partners and talking with you about our favorite ERP… and also having a lot of fun together 🤪
AI will be a core conference topic and this year I will have two particular sessions for you.
From ERP to Intelligence: fine-tuning LLMs locally with Business Central data
Organizations want AI that understands their business, but generic LLMs don’t know your processes, data model, or operational context or simply they don’t speak with the tone and format you would like.
This session shows how to fine-tune open-source language models on Dynamics 365 Business Central data entirely on your own hardware using open source tools to make training faster, lighter, and more practical.
We’ll walk through the full workflow: extracting and preparing training data from BC’s relational model, building datasets in AL from real scenarios, fine-tuning locally with open source tools, and bringing the model back into day-to-day processes. You’ll see how a domain-tuned model can support better decisions and deliver more accurate, context-aware answers than generic AI models.
This session gives you a practical framework to create AI models that truly understands your business and speak your language, without sending sensitive ERP data to the cloud and you will see new tools and platforms.
We we’ll go to an entire process, from choosing an open-weight model to fine tune it locally, to publish the fine-tuned model to the cloud and to use it from Business Central.
There are AI engineeers that only use LLMs and there are others that also build LLMs. If you want to explore this new world, this is the session for you.
If you’re interested to do more with AI and to become a real AI engineer, I recommend a visit here… it will be really open-minded😉
From “black box” to “glass box”: monitoring and governance of AI Agents in Business Central
This is the session with my partner in crime Duilio 🔥
Organizations are increasingly embracing the adoption of agentic AI in various forms, which means that different types of agents are running within a company.
Your AI agents are running in (and with) your corporate Business Central ERP and must be governed, but informations that they permit you to trace are spreaded into different tools and platforms. So you will have soon a big problem: how can you monitor them? And more importantly, can you predict their costs?
This session demystifies Application Insights telemetry for both AL native and external AI agents in Dynamics 365 Business Central, focusing on observability and cost governance.
We’ll explore monitoring and financial challenges across all the possible Business Central agent types: native AL agents, Copilot Studio agents, Azure Logic Apps agent workflows, and Foundry Agents. And we’ll also talk about monitoring AI assisted coding sessions in-depth.
Through hands-on walkthroughs, you will learn:
• How to instrument built-in agents for request visibility and token tracking.
• How to bridge observability gaps in external agent ecosystems.
• How to build dashboards tracking agent’s throughput, latency, cost, and quality.
• How to forecast costs and govern budgets across agent workloads.
• How to set up alerts for anomalies, cost spikes, and cascading failures.
We’ll have a lot of fun for sure and we’ll also announce new tools that you can start using for improving your corporate AI monitoring strategy.
You’ll leave the session with an enterprise-grade monitoring blueprint that transforms agent workloads from opaque to transparent, enabling cost control, predictability, and sustainable scaling for your AI solutions. We’ll show you cool things.
But that’s not all… together with Dmitry, Roberto and Javier we’ll wait for you at the end of the first conference day in the Developer Zone for our latest book presentation (with gifts for attendees) and to talk a bit about AI and more:
For all my Italian friends at the conference, I’ll wait you also in the Microsoft Regional Session Italy on Tuesday, 27 October at 17:15.
See you in Paris! Come say hi, I promise to talk about something other than agents (for at least five minutes😅). 🥖 💚
