Today I’ve received 4 requests always with the same problem: the following message appeared on some Dynamics 365 Business Central online environments:
and then some environments were unresponsive for a bit of time🚨🚨:
If you remember I wrote a post about .NET 8 end of support around one month ago, you can read it here.
In these months (and before November 10, 2026) Microsoft is transitioning supported Business Central releases from .NET 8 to .NET 10, across both Business Central online and on-premises deployments.
For Business Central online, Microsoft directly manages the transition to .NET 10 under the hood. The transition may involve internal migration of environments during its configured maintenance window and it’s recommended to configure your maintenance window for a period that minimizes potential impact on your organization.
A notification on Message Center also is published by Microsoft when this .NET update can affect your environments:
.NET 10 update is considered an urgent platform hotfix and this is applied not at the environment level, but at the cluster level (VMs). And on a cluster you can have multiple BC envbironments running. These required updates can occur outside your environment’s regularly scheduled update window, and this is the reason why some customers experienced a brief service interruption today, along with this alert message.
If this happens to you too, don’t be alarmed. It’s not a malfunction; rather, your Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP is simply becoming more secure.😉
