With Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS, until now AppSource apps are automatically updated to the latest available release when a mayor update is aplied to the tenant.
Now things finally change…
Starting from now, a new setting a new Apps Update Cadence setting is introduced in Admin Center:
By default, the Apps Update Cadence setting is set to Default value on all environments. Currently this means that apps installed on an environment will only automatically update with major updates (unless an app update is required for the environment to update to a new minor version).
You can change this setting by selecting one of the other following values:
- With minor and major updates: your AppSource apps will be updated during every minor and major updates applied to your tenant.
- With major updates: your AppSource apps will be updated only during a major update of your tenant.
If you set the app update cadence to Default, Microsoft will decide which updates to your environment will also update the installed AppSource apps. Currently this happens only with major updates, but Microsoft can decide to include minor updates in the future.
Please note that:
- The setting is per-environment.
- The Apps Update Cadence setting does not affect updates to per-tenant extensions installed on the environment.
