This was in the air (Microsoft has clearly announced more than an year ago that in a year or so they will be ready to move their ERP codebase from C/AL to AL), something was under NDA and cannot be blogged but finally at Directions ASIA for the first time the plans were officially revealed in a clear way:
April ’19 release (full of new features and with great improvements also in the database platform and in the debugging experience) will be the last release with C/AL supported.
From the next major release, we’ll see only VS Code + AL and the Modern Web Client.
There’s no more time to wait I think, start re-architecturing your solutions and start embracing the new development experience for Dynamics 365 Business Central as soon as possible.
The messages are crystal clear now:
Hi Stefano,
Great sound!!! Where is the official post? This is effective also for the on-premise version?
Thx,
Roberto.
