How long will survive the name ".NET"?

In a period where Microsoft has lots of name changements (Indigo = Windows Communication Foundation, Avalon = Windows Presentation Foundation, Microsoft Business Solutions = Microsoft Dynamics etc.) and where all the new names are strictly related to the word "Windows", Fabrice Marguerie has launched a question: will the name ".NET" survive or will it change to reflect the new direction?

This is an interesting question because noone has never talked about ideas on changing the name, but all the last brandings could launch a sign. If I have to express an opinion, I think that the name ".NET" is actually more than a brand, it's a tecnology with solid bases and a changement NOW could not be so appropriate.

I know that the term ".NET" is not "search-friendly" but I think it's so lovely now... And what about possible alternatives? WinNET? Windows Developer Framework? WinFWK? Windows Technology Framework? Spread your fantasy as you want, but I hope that the ".NET" brand will never change!

.NET will eventually be called WinFx (I think). More of the operating system will run off of .NET/WinFx technology, so there won't be the requirement to P/Invoke to do the really cool stuff - just the really weird stuff.
