How much Windows Vista will cost?

This is an argument that was never out on blogs after these first betas of Windows Vista... how much it will cost when will be released?

There are no official news about this, but rumours on the net say that the price will be lower than the actual Windows XP price and it could be around the 99$ (I'm talking here about the desktop version of Vista).

Will be true? It's difficult to say it now, but this could be a good step over from Microsoft to fight piracy and illegal copies of Windows. With a price around 99$, I think that the number of illegal copies will be sensible reduced and this price could be also very attractive for people who want to save their money and are thinking on a Linux migration on the desktop.

I hope to listen official news regarding the future price list soon and I hope that Microsoft will be on the "price reduction" road...

Hopefully Windows Vista will be around $99 bucks. At least let the upgrade be cheap for us win xp pro users of the full version who spent a rediculous amount of money on it. See the gamers need to get Vista because it supports Direct3D 10 (DirectX 10) and its exclusive to Vista (won't run on xp). But my question is that wouldn't Vista hurt the performance of games since it is going to need at least a 32MB card? That means that it is probably going to use a big chunck of performance. It better like go completely idle in the background when running a game.

From what I can tell, after some reading, theres going to be alot of versions of vista. The beta we are all playing with now sounds like it is going to be called windows vista home premium, im sure that this one will cost alot more than the most basic one, windows vista home basic. So, as for the 99 dollar rumor, that probably entails the lowest end version. For the "Windows Vista 'Ultimate'", ive heard rumor for as much as 700 dollars per copy, but, who knows.. prices are always in the air, look at the new playstation.

for those of you who are buying new pc i reccomend get a new mac featuring intel chips and put windows xp on it ---- Why give microsoft the money

Person who posted last... I can think of one reason that means me, and most of my friends will HAVE to get vita. As mentioned above, you need it if you want DX10. There. End of.

And of course the beta is only a shinyer version of Xp... its the Beta! The finial release will be MUCH better, Im sure.

Ill pass to replacing my PC with a Mac... they cost more and most apps and games have compatibility issues with 'em.

Well it's nice to know there's alwaysd a moronic Mac kid trolling the forums. Windows was never in the position of luxury that Mac has been. In other words, when you're less than 2% of the computer market with extremely limited hardware/software support you have the ability to fine-tune the little things. Windows has been a mainstream OS since the start and it has always been a REQUIREMENT that Windows supports practically every hardware/software configuration under the sun - so sometimes there's some problems. The fact of the matter is, Vista is taking some of Mac's ideas and other suggestions people have been throwing at it for years and finally integrating it into a brand new OS. And there's no way you can ever make fun of Windows Vista based on the BETA version alone - there's a reason they call it a BETA.

$399 full version (Ultimate), $259 upgrade. Old news at this point.

Looking at the RC2 I'm running, it's worth it.

What a bunch of wankers on these comments.
